There are two under ten teams taking part in fixtures organised by Colchester and District Youth League, the blues, managed by Simon Loft (an FA Level 1 coach), and the reds, managed by Gareth Minter (an FA Level 2 coach and a primary school teacher). Both teams train on the Poors field every Saturday between 10:30 and 11:30.
After a successful first season playing 7 a side football both teams main priority continues to be children enjoying playing football. Children are still being asked to focus on keeping the ball and improving their ability to dribble and run with the ball but looking at how they can keep the ball as a team, including deciding when it is the right time to dribble and when to pass. Children will continue to develop their understanding about what playing in different positions on the pitch means.
