Role: Every youth sports organisation has a ‘Child Welfare Officer’. We have the responsibility for checking that all of the volunteer adults involved in the club and working with the youngsters meet the strict requirements from the FA for child welfare – this includes a DBS check before they start with the club, (which is then updated every 3 years) training, advice and updates.
We also support the team managers and trainers in any incidents or concerns. We can then liaise with the Essex FA as required to ensure all the young players are kept safe.
We attend regular training with the Essex FA which is complimented by our experience of working in schools as teachers. This ensures that our skill set is maintained and supports the club in decisions to best meet the needs of all involved.
Please feel free to make contact with us if you would like to discuss or report any concerns. All parental, child and club volunteer concerns are taken seriously by the club and dealt with in the confidence appropriate to the individual situation.
